My Amazing Weekend

I spent the weekend up in New Paltz and it was enchanting. Magical. Wonderful. Justin and I went up there for a wedding but we took advantage of the location, explored the small town (which has two bookstores), rented a darling Air BnB called The Treehouse and danced our hearts out when the DJ summoned us. The first night in town (Friday) Justin took me out for a romantic birthday dinner in a restaurant which looked like it had been converted from an old house. There he presented me with my birthday present: tickets to see the Cursed Child with Tom Felton (the original Draco Malfoy) on Broadway. Tom Felton has always been my Harry Potter crush so I am thrilled (we are seeing it next month).
The wedding was delightful from the cocktail hour (the food was divine), the open bar (keep the Shirley Temples coming) the photobooth (which I spent alot of time at), the dance floor (dogs were barking) and feeling like a princess knowing that one day I would have a special day of my own and watching two of the most important people in my life find happiness this way. My favorite part was the afterparty. I changed into sweats and we all sat around a bonfire roasting smores. Most of the guests had already left so I got more one one time with my friends and people I didn’t know well but enjoyed getting to know. The rain had finally let up much to the bride’s relief. Plus there was an abundance of mocktails which was appreciated by your’s truly.
When we were not walking around New Paltz lugging around books the size of bricks for killer prices, we were at the Treehouse. The BnB was actually on top of the owners house. You climbed up to the deck to get there, there was a small deck and inside was a cozy little apartment with a bed, small living area, kitchenette and bathroom. It was quaint and Parisian. The hosts went out of their way to make us feel at home leaving us things like jugs of orange juice or coffee cookies and coffee that was actually drinkable. There wasn’t a TV set but we liked it because it meant we could drink tea, and cuddle and watch videos on his phone until we fell asleep, the soft Christmas lights from the tree in the corner the only light in the room. What a weekend. Now I need to get my meds sorted out and a good night’s sleep.
