Small Things You Can Do Every Day

Morning Activities:
Journal about the coming day (it can be as little as a sentence)
Pinpoint three priorities of your coming day
Write down one thing that you are looking forward to later in the week
Make coffee/ tea
Pick out an outfit that has you ready to slay the day
Make your bed and arrange your stuffed animals properly
Sit by a window as though you were a plant absorbing the sun
Movement and Body
Take at least one walk where you get to leave the house and/or your work environment
Practice basic hygiene like brushing your teeth, washing your face and taking shower
Take your meds (set alarm on your phone if need be)
Move your body for 20 minutes to get your daily dose of cardio
Consider a gym membership
House Maintenance
Pick a small area of your house (a drawer or half a cabinet) and declutter that area. If it isn’t contributing to your house toss it
Do a load of laundry (pick a laundry day. Mine is Monday.)
Open a window to get some fresh fall air
Do three minute tidy up (or however long your favorite song is)
Wash dishes as you go
Make a shopping list by adding as needed items as you go. Pick one day a week to go to the store
Make that important phone call (doctor’s visit? Hair appointment?)
Pay a bill
Put unscheduled expenses into your budget
Go through your mail
Meal prep (done once a week)
Digital Maintenance
Free up storage
Delete those pesky apps that sneak onto your phone along with the stuff you actually need
Productivity
Put your phone on silent
Draft a “to-do list” for tomorrow
Do a brain dump getting everything muddled in your head out
Put key events in your calender
Check and answer emails
Pick a primary task and spend an hour on it before taking a short break
Make a dent in a task you haven’t started yet
When you are done with your computer or with your project put everything away and back up your work
Resets
Put away your tasks and pick up a book you are in the middle of or a moderately short Youtube video you’ve been meaning to watch
Have a cup of cider or hot chocolate outside (or inside if weather is not permitting)
Do a brief body scan and meditation
Do something that is fun but not necessarily productive
Watch a TV show or rewatch a favorite movie
Socializing
Send a friend a text or a meme (I texted half my contacts a clip of Winnie the Pooh celebrating autumn)
Send a friend a well deserved thank you card
Establish physical contact with someone- a hug, a kiss, making love with a partner
Answer a person you’ve neglected recently
Evenings
Plan out your clothes for the next day
Write down three things you are grateful for
Write down three things you accomplished today
Pray (obviously not for everyone but I like closing the day by whispering to God)
