Whether or not you have a romantic partner you are planning to celebrate your Valentine’s Day together or alone (or with friends, a very valid option) it is important you should be familiar with the love languages- yours, your partner’s and anyone you care about. There are five love languages at least according to Gary Chapman who published a book about it in 1992. Here are the five love languages for you to peruse:

Words of Affirmation

Things You Can Do For Your Partner: Praise/ compliment them on their accomplishments and appearance, tell them you love them and how much they mean to you, offer words of support and encouragement (“you can do it!), thank them for all the kind things they in turn are doing for you

Quality Time

Things You Can Do For Your Partner: give them all your focus when spending time together (i.e. put the phone away. This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine by the way), listening closely, putting time aside so it is just the two of you, have a shared hobby you engage in together (my boyfriend and I like to Doordash and do Legos), prioritize time together especially if you haven’t seen each other in a while

Receiving Gifts

Things You Can Do For Your Partner: routinely shower your sweetheart with small presents/ gifts even for small occasions like a small promotion, create personalized gifts like a a scrapbook or treat them to a night at their favorite restaurant or a spa day.  Note: This does not make you a sugar daddy. Necessarily.

Physical Touch

Things You Can Do For Your Partner: frequently show your partner you love them through touch ex. Hugs, putting your arm around their waist, holding hands, caressing their skin, kissing their temples. Also appreciated are back rubs and back massages. Intimacy in any way.

Acts of Service

Things You Can Do For Your Partner: watching the kids so they can sleep in, doing the dishes (I think the first time I did the dishes Justin cried with happiness), cooking dinner (Justin always cooks me a delicious dinner), taking the dogs for a walk

It pays to know what your own love language is. Maybe tomorrow I’ll provide a quiz because the first one that showed up at Google wouldn’t let me see my answers. Also I love creating quizzes. Another question: would you guys like more quizzes?
