My Favorite Scents

Some of them might surprise you!

  1. Evergreen. I go “all in” for Christmas and love seeing a real tree in every living room. Even though I love Halloween and hate to see it get hustled away the moment school starts, I appreciate seeing Christmas merch as soon as it appears. Just a thought, we should have a combination of Halloween and Christmas and stick it in a month where there aren’t any holidays.

  2. The smell of woodstoves and fresh crisp fall air. When I would catch the bus to school, I’d wait at the end of my driveway and breathe it in, getting drunk off the changing of seasons. It worked better at waking me up than my morning cup of coffee. It reminds me of Halloween and spooky season which as I mentioned before is one of my favorite time of the year.

  3. Lavender. Lavender has followed me around from aromatherapy in the hospital (it calms me down) to little pillows in my underwear drawer. My cousins got me a great spa basket for my birthday and I chose the lavender soap immediately.

  4. Rain on the pavement especially in the summer.

  5. Mountain air in the mornings.

  6. Cape Cod. My family and I go to Cape Cod every May for our family reunion. The smell of the ocean, the smell of the motel rooms (they smell like clean linen), and the smell of the indoor health spa (overwhelming chlorine) are probably the most comforting smells I’ve known.

  7. Basil. My mom’s pesto is legendary. Also I kind of like food.

  8. A hibachi restaurant

  9. Cigarettes. This is a weird one, I know. Cigarettes are pretty disgusting not to mention deadly (they killed my grandmother. She died at 70). But the scent of them has always reminded me of my Poppy and Grandma who both smoked. I grew up very close with my grandparents and lost them early in my teens. It was hard because they were so kind to me and I loved them so much. The scent of cigarettes is like having them back.

  10. Marijuana. Here’s another odd one. Marijuana kind of reminds me of my teens, my “rebellious days” and though I am happier now it is a nostalgic smell.
