My birthday would not have been half as special if I hadn’t had so many amazing people who made it that way. Here are some people I need to thank (in no particular order)
My parents. They are giving me alot this year and my mom still got me a batch of presents waiting for me at my spot when I came bounding into the kitchen on my birthday. They got me a batch of balloons because they know I am a child at heart and get such a kick out of them. My mom literally made the best cake on Earth: an applesauce cake with the sweetest frosting. My mom’s a master baker so I shouldn’t be surprised.
Justin. I didn’t get to see Justin on my birthday but in October he is taking me to Hershey Park for a weekend. I love Hershey Park. I havent been there in ages and I haven’t been there near Halloween. I can imagine strolling arm in arm with Justin in the crisp fall air, admiring the foliage and the huge drops on the roller coasters. Now that’s a birthday present I’ll always remember.
My aunt and uncle coming to visit. My (great) aunt and uncle have been a huge part of my life since I was a kid. They lived only twenty minutes away when I was growing up and would pop over for birthdays, Halloween and day trips. I treasured it all and it was so great that they came to celebrate my birthday. They even brought presents. At the end of the night, I fell asleep on my aunt’s shoulder, snoring gently.
My cousins came over. These were my mother’s first cousins so they were all really close and they fawned over me. I love hearing stories about my grandparents (now deceased) and my great aunt and uncle. And they also brought me a giant spa basket which included scented soap, shower steamers, bath bombs and an oil diffuser. The power of aromatherapy!
My brother, who is pretty busy, called me and even though we had seen each other last week I told him all about my birthday and my exciting plans for October and the rest of September and he listened to me even though it probably wasn’t too interesting.
I got calls and cards from cousins that couldn’t come visit like Mary-Kate who is in the army or Amanda who lives in California. I got texts and phone calls from aunts and uncles. Basically my whole family made me feel valued on my birthday.
My friends left so many messages on my wall and even more texted me personally. My friend Nick wished me happy birthday the day before my birthday because he knew he would be too busy on my actual birthday. Old college friends that I hadn’t heard from in a while. New friends I’m just beginning to develop relationships with. I felt blessed so many remembered.
Thank you everyone who helped me feel so special.
