                                                                             Calm

Circle the number of thumbs up that correspond to the level of well-being you gain with each of the activities listed below:

Breathing: 4 thumbs up

Meditation: 2 thumbs up

Drawing/painting: 4 thumbs up

Praying: 3 thumbs up

Reading/writing: 5 thumbs up

Swimming/ jogging/ walking: 2 thumbs up

Contemplation: 1 thumbs up

Gardening: 1 thumbs up

A hot bath/shower: 3 thumbs up

Notes: The strategy “contemplation” got one thumbs up because it so often leads to rumination. Actually “gardening” got one thumbs up too. As a child I was designated a little area to have as a garden but I swiftly lost interest and my brother took it over.

                                                                      Change

Identify the things you would like to change in your life by noting your satisfaction with the following:

Your Love Life:             Smiley

Your Professional Life (which I consider my writing life):         Smiley

Your Family Life:                            Smiley

Your Social Life:                            Smiley

Your Body:                                    Frowny

Your Temperament                     Middle

Your Environment                              Smiley

Your  Health                                 Frowny

If you circled the third option for any of the options describe1. What is wrong

2. What you really want- your ideal dream

3. A creative solution to obtain (if anything comes to mind)4. A specific and achievable action plan to make this change a reality

Observations…..I am having trouble now that I am so overweight. My knees hurt, my back hurts and I easily get out of breath.

Vision……I want to have a hot body again that would make everyone stare appreciatively. But most of all I want to be healthy and in shape.

Brainstorming solutions……I’m going to use a method I learned from Weight Watchers. Every day have one A (appetizer), B (bread), C (cocktail), D (dessert), OR F(fried food). It eliminates so much unhealthy food.

Create an action plan

Objective: to weigh 170 pounds

Obstacles to be removed: fried foods,  sugary drinks

Assets: going to the gym, willpower, discipline

Cutoff Date: September 1st

Methods to Be Used: dieting, healthy meals, exercise

Resources/ people: My psychiatrist, Mom, Justitn, my nutritionist

                                                                                     Commitments

What commitments are you going to make shortly?

  • Lose ten pounds (actually thirty but might as well start with ten)

  • Finish —-----’s wedding present

  • Finish my book

  • Finish  my March presents

  • Continue leading my book clubs

  • Read five books a month

                                                                     Compassion

How has compassion changed your relationships?

Compassion has greatly enhanced my relationships. I have so many friends who have tried to (and some had succeeded) to understand my illness and what comes with it. Their understanding means the world to me.

                                                                Confidence

What if you invented your own confidence mantra?

“I am blessed and loved by God and so many others. I am gifted and talented in so many ways. I am kind and generous  to the people I know. I am safe and sound and always will be”

                                                             Consciousness

What are you getting out of living this present moment in full consciousness?

My brother just called on the telephone. He got out of work early. I just finished a bowl of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup and have moved onto to my strawberries. They are pretty good but there’s a taste of dirt. I want a second wind but my parents have limited my caffeine intake and that’s probably a good thing. I have a post nasal drip and a small headache.
