Looking on the bright side

April literally just flew by. And I’m using “literally” the correct way because it had wings and everything. Several significant things happened. I got a job. I haven’t worked since 2019, mostly because of my mental health not because I didn’t want to. This is a job that allows me to be caring, compassionate and creative and I’m very excited to start. Another thing is two of my best friends got married. And finally, I survived an elimination diet.

April Resolutions Accomplished:

  • Job offer accepted

  • I finished most of the books I’m reading. Since I’m in multiple book clubs (usually in a leadership role) there is a constant stream of new books. It never ends.

  • I am at the part of the elimination diet where we are adding food back in. I think we are adding gluten back in first and then swiftly I hope to add garlic and onion because I was missing those guys. This diet was really hard for me. Its already hard to eat healthy let alone with such restrictions. At Justins party I couldn’t even have penne al vodka.

  • I have interviews from half of book club. I bought binders so I could put everyone’s interviews in them and hand them out but I guess that’ll have to wait. I also planned on putting in notes on some of the books we read in the new year which includes For Whom the Bell Tolls, The Housemaid, Tell Me Everything and the Tenant of Whitefield Hall.

  • I’m really satisfied with the work I’m putting in on my books (which I can’t name because they are under a pseudonym).

  • I started Katie’s wedding present. I’m hesitant to put it here lest she read it but its turning out so well so far and I feel really proud of it. I just hope I don’t like, spill coffee on it first.

  • Scout is our cat and he is 22 years old. His back legs are plagued by arthritis and when he tries to jump up on chairs or laps he usually crashes into the furniture. He still really likes chicken and going for his morning constitutional around the house.

  • I did it. I did the 30/30. Well I haven’t done today’s yet so technically it is still the 29/30. But I’ll remedy that later. I did a good job. It’s not easy to write a poem every day for a month,

  • Justin and I are preparing for the partner slam. We aren’t as far along as I would like to be but I hold myself to a very  high standard. We wrote a good poem on his birthday (the contents of which are a state secret). Now we just got to get our other two poems up to speed.

  • We celebrated Justin’s birthday. Justin deserves balloons and cake (which no, I didn’t make and actually couldn’t eat) every day of the month.

  • I love my character, Catalina in DND. She’s the queen of Chasa, married to King Henry the VIII (unhappily) who runs away with the adventurers as they go to the Forgotten Realm.  My friend is becoming a very accomplished dungeon  master and yesterday  my friends presented me with my own collection of DND dice. I was so touched.

  • I have been exploring all the trails at the gym

  • So far my weight is yo yoing. It goes down two pounds, it goes up one. I guess that still means I lost weight? But honestly, I’m not going to get anywhere like this.

Resolutions I Will Continue to Work On:

  •  I bought a set of eight coasters (all sea creatures from starfish to turtles to sea horses) for Diamond Art and the diamonds are so sparkly. This set is much nicer than the kind I get from the crafts store (I got it online)

  • Nikki and I are actually just scheduled a hang out this morning. I have known Nikki for years and i am determined that we don’t fall out of contact even though we are both super busy. I’ve lost enough friends like that.

  • I have to find out how many points I have on my gym account so I can see when I should get my personal training session. I have done training sessions before (three) but they have all been with men. I find that a little intimidating and sometimes I’m afraid to ask questions about form or how machines work. I think I would feel comfortable with a female trainer

  • Practice patience. I was especially cranky this week. I got some bad news Monday and while I don’t think that was responsible for my sour mood the rest of the week it certainly didn’t make it easier. I wanted to snap at anybody who pissed me off. Alot of people pissed me off. Going forward I’m on a higher dose of medication because my irritability was so hard to deal with. Hopefully it helps.

  • Today will be a relaxing day. That’s what I’m looking forward to. I think itll help me to have some time to myself.

Resolutions I’m Abandoning:

  • Finally got to the front of the line at Bath and Body Works only to find the bath supplies I wanted to buy were about $40 more than I wanted to spend. I got my shower steamers and got out,

Now it is time to work on May Resolutions.
