  • A complete stranger that stopped me from crying in the high school bathroom. I wish I had gotten her name so I could have nominated her for the Kindness Award

  • A classmate in eighth grade finding me crying on the stairs. She calmed me down and took me to wash my face

  • Anything that my cousin Mary-Kate or my best friend from college ever did (especially when she helped me after I self-harmed)

  • My best guy friend buying Plan B for me after a Tinder date got carried away

  • My theater friend coming with me to buy a pregnancy test

  • Some nurses/ technicians in the mental hospital.  My favorite is that nurse who asked me if I wanted aromatherapy while I was recovering in the quiet room

  • Friends and family who wrote me palancas when I was on a retreat

  • The EMT who told me not to give up and to hold on when she escorted me to the hospital after my suicide attempt

  • My “second family” that took me in so I could finish the semester. I’d like to thank them for well, everything!

  • My cousin Joe visited me in the hospital. So did my Aunt Dorothy.
