I’ve been using a workbook called The 40 Day Body Image Workbook. They had a quiz I liked about how confident you are about your body. I made a similar one here. Note: I made this one myself. While it was influenced by the one in the book, I designed it myself (I also adapted the formula from the addiction quiz I highlighted on the blog several weeks ago)
_____ I change my clothes more than twice a day purely for aesthetic reasons (that is to say, not related to temperature or an outside factor)
_____ I haven’t worn an actual swimsuit in over a year. I prefer to wear clothes when I swim or not swim at all.
_____ I don’t believe in “cheat days” but some days I’ll binge eat until I feel sick
_____I believe pretty girls have it easier
_______ I believe when I get old no one will give a shit about me.
Give yourself one point for each check
___ I go to the gym every day even when it is inconvenient
____ Social media depresses me. It’s just my friends looking prettier than me
_____ I change my clothes at least five times a day purely for aesthetic reasons.
_____ I’ll buy an outfit if a salesgirl or friend tells me it looks good on me
Give yourself two points for each check
___ I try not to associate with girls who are prettier than me
____ been broken up with because guys have found me “too jealous” and/or “too insecure”
_____ I can’t handle formal occasions because there is too much pressure to look your best (this includes weddings and proms)
____If a guy compliments me there’s a good chance I will sleep with him
___I’m seriously considering plastic surgery
Give yourself five points for each check
_____ I’ve gotten any form of plastic surgery (Botox does not count if it is for a medical reason like migraines)
_____ I have made myself throw up with the goal of weight loss in my mind
_____ I’m always on a diet
____ My looks mean everything to me
Give yourself ten points for each check
0-10 You seem very grounded in your body and your appearance. Congratulations! Way to be wrapped up in things that matter!
10-20You seem to have an unhealthy preoccupation with your appearance, which is something you should get a handle on before it becomes worse. There’s so much more important stuff to focus on from your career to your hobbies to your relationships.
20-30 You’re missing out on your life due to your poor body image. There are memories you’ll never get back, moments you miss out on due to your obsession with the “perfect” body. There is no such thing as the perfect body.
30 and over Please see a therapist or counselor because the way you think about your body is warped. You are beautiful and you are letting society or some person in your life make you think otherwise. Work to change this.
