Do One Thing Every Day That Makes You Happy
12/16/2025
What will make me happy here:
Many books and guided journals for Christmas, a successful holiday party, finishing all my library books, dressing up on New Year’s Eve and for my Christmas party, giving Justin his presents, shopping with Adam, giving the book club their presents

The Top Five Foods That Make Me Happy:
5. Ham
4. Stuffing
3. “Elbows” (type of pasta) and pot roast (our New Year dinner)
2. Sushi
Mom’s homemade pizza

What made this New Year’s Eve happy?
Mitch came! We kissed at midnight. Also I got new years wishes from alot of my friends. I feel more outgoing, less socially anxious. New year, new me?

How I started a happy new year:
Mitch and I had a beautiful day together. We walked around the mall, had a delicious ham dinner made by Mom and went to a new hookah lounge. I wish all days were like this.

My goal for pleasure today:
Get out of the house. And I did. I went out to dinner at Koi with Vince and Celeste and I had a very nice time. I am hurt and frustrated but at least I had some fun.

What I would be delighted to do all night for 50 cents and a sandwich:
Writing, I am manic so I’d stay up all night anyway ( I wouldn’t even need Monster). Other suggestions are playing games with friends (like Midnight Outburst) or just reading. Hurray allnighters.

A common thing that made me happy today:
These scented gel pens. They smell great and I love the sparkly ink. Also pilot pens which should be arriving in the mail tomorrow.
Nothing is more pleasant to my eye than
A Christmas tree, a kitten, a table full of food particularly if the food is sushi, a steaming mug of hot chocolate
Work I excelled at today:
I went to band practice and I wrote two songs and three personal essays as they played a song with my lyrics. So rewarding.

What made me thankful today:We went to Nanuet library and I got a ton of books that look really interesting including books for personal essays which I might start writing. And I was productive too.

Today’s charming gardener:
Mom because she worked so hard to make Thanksgiving perfect for all of us (mac and cheese and stuffing!)

What made me grin on the inside today?
The fact that even though I’m in the hospital now, we still have Christmas morning when I get home. Also because Mitch loves me and will come see me soon (maybe for New Year’s).

Today I had a perfect visit from:
Mitchell. He visited me in the hospital and even though it was a short visit (only two hours) we had alot of fun kissing and talking about our future and Christmas. It was funny: I was lying in bed trying to sleep when the nurse told me “Catherine your boyfriends here” “What?” I exclaimed and sure enough there was my Mitch smiling at me.

My cheap pleasure today:
Morning therapy, group art therapy where I made a kickass bracelet, visits from Justin, Aunt Dorothy and my parents
4/26/2026
Today I
will read as much of the Tenant of Whitfield Hall as possible (for tomorrow’s book club), blog and do the 30/30
Notes:
You will see the name Mitch occasionally. He was one of the guys I dated before Justin.
During some of these entries I am in the hospital (usually when I refer to "art therapy" or "visitors")
I am driven by a unchecked urge to be as productive as possible. This sometimes doesn't leave me as happy as I think it does, it makes me feel exhausted.
