Happy New Year

2023 was an interesting year. I started off with Covid and practically ended that way too. I was hospitalized for a week and a half in July, truly one of the worst experiences of my life. I went to my cousins wedding in Vermont. I published Monopoly. I had my first book signing.
My goal was to not care as much about what other people thought about me.
Unfortunately, I don’t think I actually achieved that. Maybe this will be the year? This year I have several resolutions. The biggie is to give up soda/ all energy drinks. So far I’m on week three. I have confidence it’ll hold. When I give something up, I give it up. Lent used to actually be fun for me. Another goal is to go to the gym 3-4 a week. I usually go for the treadmill but this year I want to diversify with the bike and the elliptical. Finally, another goal (and this is hard to explain) watch more TV. In 2023, I watched NO TV. Then my boyfriend got me a firestick. I want to relax in front of the TV and not worry about anything. Veg out. In an extremely small dose.
Real talk: today I had a meeting with my psychiatrist. He said I had a condition called pseudo Parkinsons which is reversible but we aren’t going to stop the meds. Instead we are going to add two more medications- Klonopin and Cogentin (I’ve been on both before). Klonopin is the most addictive of the benzos. Cogentin has a lot of side effects like dry mouth, constipation and it also affects your vision. So I’m not exactly enthused about this news. Nothing I can’t handle though.
