Work on my romances

Go to Baltimore

I am proud of how well I did with June. Working at my new job, spending time with my friends and Justin, and writing (always writing). We (my parents and I) even went to Pennsylvania then Baltimore and I loved the barn turned bookstore, the truffle risotto we enjoyed at the Italian restaurant, and the time watching the Knicks game in the hotel room.

June Resolutions Accomplished:

  • Do a writing prompt a day. I can’t honestly say I did one every day but I definitely got some good prompts. Interested? They’ll be appearing in my upcoming short story book so you can read them for yourself.

  • Reddit is a wealth of story ideas. I just got to make sure I avoid copyright by doctoring the stories so they are inspired, not stolen. I can draw from my own life but I got to be careful when I’m doing it from other people’s lives.

  • I have been reading weight loss books every day. I don’t know if it’s directly impacting my (slight) weight loss but it keeps it on my mind every time I reach for a chip or cookie. Now I have an arsenal of tips on losing weight.

  • I had to order more equipment for the Recollections Ink I use to decorate my books. I’m currently working on a comfort book, a scrapbook, and a book journal. That means a lot of pages. That means alot of backgrounds to decorate.

  • I have two new poems I plan on slamming with in July. At our poetry slams, the first round’s poem is required to be brand new (that is to say you can’t have slammed with it before). The 2nd and 3rd round have no  such stipulations. I wrote two new poems that I’m excited to share and for my third poem I’ll use one I’ve had success with in the past.

  • I am actually working on my sobriety date, which happens to be the Fourth of July. The senior center is having a BBQ so they need extra people. I just hope they aren’t depending on me to grill. But Justin and I will celebrate on a later date, hopefully at a hookah lounge. I haven’t been to one in  ages.

  • I have been very good at not panicking at work. Even through bingo disasters and trivia fiascos, I try to remain in charge. Sometimes the seniors will give me feedback: “You handled that very well” I love that. Especially when they give it to me in front of my boss.

  •

  • I am having my first scrapbooking activity this week actually. I am very excited to see what they produce. I went through  their scrapbook supplies (which, for some reason, were mostly Halloween themed) and they are getting more this week. I hope the residents bring momentos and photos so they can really embellish their books.

  • I’m reading a book about pregnancy, miscarriages and stillbirths which may sound damn depressing especially since I’m not having kids and that was a crushing thing to accept. But it’s actually really interesting. Currently I’m reading about the history of contraceptives and the legality of abortions.

  •

  • I got a new candle and whenever I light it I feel warm and fuzzy. Smelling it makes me feel like I’m tiptoing through my childhood.

  • I created a junk journal/ scrapbook out of this beautiful journal my aunt and uncle got me for Christmas. Plus someone already did the backgrounds so…pressure’s off!

  • I do romances when I can. I have nine I’m working on from a love triangle with a pregnancy to a romance at a gym evolving into a girl with terminal brain tumor and a cop turned bodyguard after a girl is attacked.

  • Both my parents had birthdays. I gave them both coasters (homemade Diamond Art coasters that took forever to make), shout outs on my blog and collages.

  • Dairy has been added back to my diet. So far it hasn’t seemed to have caused any problems.

  • As I said before, we did go to Baltimore and Pennsylvania

Goals I Will Continue On Working

  • I have an upcoming “acrostic poetry” program at the senior center in July

  • I have to talk to my boss about my book club at work because it feels like everybody is on different pages (pun not intended)

  • My comfort book is nowhere near done. I am printing pages and  pages of images to decorate it and hoarding the perfect stickers. I want a book that makes me smile just by looking at it.

  • I haven’t lost ten pounds. I think I lost seven pounds. I haven’t been to the gym in a while- a combination of work and also this ear infection/ inflamed ear drum has really been bothering me. I don’t think I’ve ever had an ear issue this bad before.

  • I’m working on learning everybody’s name but it certainly is a process. I have major respect for teachers who don’t rely on name tags.

  • When my ear doesn’t feel like lava I will return to the gym and do those classes!

Things I’m Giving Up On

  • I haven’t been posting or sharing on any social media website other than posting my blog entries to Facebook. I just don’t think it’s something I’m interested in except maybe for sometimes brief periods.
