Lent and Pancakes

Okay, it took a little longer to figure it out this year but I’ve finally decided what to give up for lent. Facebook. To an aspiring writer, wanting to make connections this is some sort of suicide but it’s not about me. It’s about sacrificing even a fraction of the way Christ sacrificed everything for us. I did make an exception: I will still post my blog posts on Facebook. But I won’t check the comments, I won’t post pictures (even though Justin and I did a very impressive LEGO structure the other day), I won’t scroll through the Newsfeed. I have so many notifications and I want to check them out so badly. But I figure anyone who needs to reach me can either text me or go through Messenger. I didn’t realize how much I had come to depend on Facebook for entertainment, for distraction, to keep busy when I could be doing something productive like journaling or reading a book. So I count this as a time for a little self-improvement. Oh by the way, another of my essays (Pancakes) has been accepted in a magazine for publishment. I’ll post the link once it’s up.
