March Resolutions

March is here! The shamrocks are flying, the leprochauns are dancing….can you tell I’m part Irish? Here is what I’m going to accomplish this month..or at least try.

  • When I say coasters I mean Diamond Art. Just as Diamond Art makes beautiful bookmarks and ornaments for Christmas (there are no limitations to what Diamond Art can’t make) it can make gorgeous coasters. These patterns are like geodes and they also sparkle. Good thing too since I have a lot of March birthdays plus some leftover Christmas presents (shame on me).

  • Justin and I are going to the Liberty Science Center Saturday. I am so excited because there are so many exhibitions you can climb, explore and touch. There are exhibitions on dreams, bees and animals of the Hudson Valley (yes a touch tank! I love those!). It’ll be a great way to celebrate our four year anniversary (which is tomorrow).

  • These one is a little vague but I realized I let people talk down to me or patronize me. Why do I let them do that? I don’t deserve that. No one does.

  •  Watch a Jubilee/ Middle Ground debate or a Ted Talk every day. I want to improve my mind and broaden my horizons. Usually watching debates doesn’t change my mind but it does make me more sympathetic to the other “side” Or sometimes I watch a video where I am sympathetic to neither “side” but concede that they both make good points. And for the most part everyone is very respectful.

  • Ever since Justin encouraged me to delete my social media apps, I haven’t been on them once. And I probably saved a hell of a lot of time.

  • I watched The Housemaid. I read it in my book club. Now I’m reading it with my mom. Might glaze over the steamy sex scene. Only Sydney Sweeney can do that.

  • I actually already did this. I have an upcoming book with excerpts from my blog. Yesterday I printed it all out to edit by hand.

  • Me and my best friend —----- having been having poem appointments where we go to Panera, eat mac and cheese and write poems, then read them to each other. Its very productive and also somewhat cathartic.

  • I would like to do some solo writing in a cafe. I like writing at home but there’s something to be said for a change of atmosphere. Plus theres this cafe in town and I’d love to sit in the windows.

  • I am using Not Drinking Tonight for another project (another future book also written under an alias) and I have until the end of March until it’s due back at the library.

  • I didn’t make it onto the poet slam team (I lost by one person) but that doesn’t mean I can’t have fun with it. I plan on interviewing the five members of the team and the coach and using it to promote the team and our program in general as they go compete throughout the Northeast area.

  • Anything that can get me moving is worth doing. There was a free class all about the machines that was a tremendous help. Most classes cost a little bit extra and I plan on getting a personal trainer session sometime this month  who can help me make a tailor made work out sesh.

  • I want to see if it is in the realm of possibility for me to share my crafts on Etsy. But I need to know a little more about it first.

  • Keep my room tidy: boring and self-explanatory

  • I want to have a signature recipe that I can use to impress people at all the dinner parties I throw. This weekend Justin and I worked together to make thai stir fry which was a cooking challenge for me but I did a good job snapping snow peas. And it ended up tasting delicious.

  • I have two books of puzzles that have been languishing in my bedroom. I want to solve some of them before Cape Cod so I can get the latest book (Provincetown has a really cool puzzle store called Puzzle Me This)

  • I haven’t sent a letter to my cousin since the wedding. I owe her. Plus a coaster? (Just to be clear I did send a present)

  • Last months resolution was to get shutterfly pictures. I have assembled the photos I wanted but now I need to send it in so I can use the pictures and make a scrapbook.

  • I want my hair short again. Every time my hair starts creeping down by my shoulders I know it’s too long. Some women could never picture themselves with their hair short. That’s really the only way I could picture myself.

  • I would love to have a picnic with Justin. We could stock the coolers with energy drinks, bacon, hot dogs and anything that was probably not too great for  you. But just don’t make it a windy day. I’ve learned from experience.

  • I want to meet more people at the open mics and the slam.

  • I do want to be more careful about what I eat. No fried foods (at least not alot).

  • I want to find more books like Not Drinking Tonight to help with my upcoming book.

  • Mom likes to do her own thing in the kitchen. She actually doesn’t know how to make Cream of Mushroom soup so she’s going to teach me while learning herself.

Thanks for being patient with me. I know this was a very long entry; I’m happy you stuck with me. I like the support. It helps push me to complete these numerous March resolutions.
