March was busy. This year feels like life went hardcore and I’m thinking about ten different things at the time (#toomanytabsopen). I love my life the way it is unfolding. Not everything is going the way exactly I pictured or even wanted but I’m okay with it. I learning to be okay with it anyway.
March Resolutions I Accomplished:
Justin and I did go to a museum. We went to the Liberty Science Center. They had some great exhibits including one with all sorts of wildlife (I like zoos and aquariums so this appealed to me. Piranhas don’t even look scary!). I kind of freaked out in the Touch Tunnel (a pitch black tunnel that you crawl along) because I was worried I wouldn’t be able to finish it (which would be super embarrassing since all the kids crawled through no problem)
No social media. I was proud I managed to accomplish this. I probably missed some crucial information about weddings or birthdays or graduations but it felt good not to worry about whatever everyone else was up to. Focusing on my own life is keeping me happy and I doubt I’ll redownload the apps. If I need to, I can just go on them from my computer.
I printed out the blog pages for my next group and edited all of them. Now I’m working on the personal essays.
Me and my friend —---- get together almost every Thursday at Panera Bread. Sometimes we get carried away with talking and not much poetry gets done. But I definitely get more poetry when I carve out time dedicated to it.
I did finish the Not Drinking Tonight and now it is overdue.
My room has been surprisingly tidy but still overdue library books and old journal pages tend to congregate in the corners.
A few weeks ago I cut off all my hair and dyed it red (well, they dyed it red for me). My hair used to be ram rod straight but now it has soft curls which are really pronounced with this haircut. I have gotten enough compliments to ascertain that I did the right thing.
I have been watching what I eat more carefully. On Saturday at my cousin’s engagement party I skipped the french fries and the mac and cheese and waited until we got home so we could eat something healthier. Willpower is not developed overnight.
Here are March Resolutions I’m Abandoning:
Listen to a Ted Talk/ Jubilee Debate. I’ve started listening to some books by Alison Weir and she has one for each one of Henry the VIII’s wives. Naturally my interest is piqued so right now I’m reading Katherine of Aragon, the True Queen. Who knew the 16th century is so juicy?
My side hustle was going to be selling my crafts online. Since no one has purchased a single item from the store where my friend is selling them, I’m going to take a hint. I don’t think I’ll make a profit, at least not enough for it to be worth my time. It’s okay. I have so much other stuff to spend time on. I’ll stick to making crafts and cards for people’s birthday.
Make I will set a small amount of time once a week to devote to brain teasers and logic puzzles. I can’t possibly fit it in once a week.
Resolutions I Will Pursue, Just Maybe in Different Ways:
I will visit Dean’s on Fridays. I like the barista there. He gave me a free drink once. I remember that sort of thing. I used to work on my book there.
Still working on Interviews. There are five people on the team and I’ve only sent out questions to one of them so I definitely got to make some headway on that.
I’m saving up my points at the gym so I can get a personal training session which I think counts as a class.
Justin and I cooked together this month. We made pork chops with dried cranberries and couscous. It was great. I was in charge of the lemon zest and seasoning the meat. Very important roles. I’d like to cook again soon.
I really want to get photos from shutterfly so I can make a scrapbook of the last few years, a chronicle of my adventures and my friends which I haven’t done since Scranton.
Now that the weather is so much nicer Justin and I will certainly have a picnic.
It’s easier to meet people when you are doing door (greeting people and taking money) at slams and open mics. I’ve met several this month. All potential friends.
It’s time to start making resolutions for April.
