I don’t write about  pop culture much for the simple reason I don’t know much about it. I listen to modern music but usually only at parties or in the car with my friends. Then it gets stuck on my head and ends up on “repeat” in a very short playlist. I never watch TV unless Justin introduces me to it. I do go to the movies alot but I have no idea who plays who. The only pop culture component I know much about is literature and I don’t know if these writers (very talented in their own right) constitute celebrities. But I decided every few Wednesdays I’d introduce a new column called Celebrity Awards. And here it is.

Addicting Musician of the Month: Chappell Roan. I already mentioned this talented artist in April. I can play her endlessly in the shower, in the car, at the gym without getting tired. I believe she is THE voice for lesbians and bisexuals everywhere who have been dying for some good music. Anyone struggling with their sexuality will recognize themselves in her songs. Even straight men (my boyfriend) can appreciate a good fucking beat and will sing with me with the windows down,

Most Likeable Actress of the Month: Jennifer Aniston. I don’t know much about celebrity gossip. I know Jennifer Aniston was married to Brad Pitt and then Angelina Jolie came along and then she wasn’t. I do know Jennifer was very classy about it but she must have been devastated and humiliated. Any woman would be let alone a woman under such scrutiny. Jenifer says she doesn’t hold a grudge and  I think that’s very healthy. I have watched several movies with Jenifer (Just Go With It, Horrible Bosses) but my favorite place to see Jennifer is Friends. Friends may be my favorite sitcom. Jennifer’s character Rachel is a little ditzy, a little spoiled but she’s sweet, loyal and in other words, also very likeable.

Favorite Scream Queen: Neve Campbell. Neve Campbell was the ultimate Scream Queen in Scream 1-7 (yes, the seventh one hasn’t even come out yet). She has survived every movie making herself the ultimate final girl. You’d be surprised at how many people want to kill her. She is also one of the four witches in The Craft  which is a  juicy role as well.  I highly recommend anyone into the occult to watch that movie but…just be prepared to turn it off at the end.She has also been in some movies that aren’t horror movies per se (like Wild Things) but do put her acting talents on display,

Most Versatile Actress of the Month: Rachel McAdams. What is Rachel not in? She played the iconic Regina George in Mean Girls. She was in Doctor Strange: Multiverse Madness which I hated, but not her fault. She played the hot chick in “Hot Chick” and the female lead in “The Notebook. But my favorite role is played was Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret where she played Margaret’s (insanely young looking) mom. I look forward to seeing her in many more roles.

Most Intense: Heath Ledger at the Joker in the Dark Knight. Heath Ledger as the Joker is probably my favorite villain in maybe any movie (not books though. They conceive even darker and more twisted villains than movies can). You can’t tell if he’s out of his mind or if he’s calculated all his moves (I’m leaning toward the latter). I know everyone shits on Jared Leto for his subsequent performance as the Joker but no one could come close to Heath Ledger. Plus the script sucked.

So what are some of your celebrity nominations? Maybe I’ll include them in my next awards ceremony.
