Back then, what did you think you were going to be when you grew up? I originally thought I wanted to be a forensic psychiatrist, then a social worker and eventually a teacher.
Did you go to the prom? I went to my junior prom with my longtime boyfriend and I went to his senior prom. I did my hair up with 62 bobby pins. I bought a gorgeous mermaid dress. I looked stunning (in my opinion).
Where did you go after prom, if anyone? I missed my senior prom. My best friend went. I stayed at —---’s house drinking which, at the time, I probably found more fun. I was bullied at my high school.
How athletic were you and how was this manifested? I never really was athletic until college although I was the only girl in our class who knew how to play football.
When teams were picked in gym, were you picked first, near the beginning, in the middle or to the end? Somewhere in the middle generally.. I was good at sports (especially soccer) but this seemed to surprise everyone.
What school clubs, sports teams or organizations did you join? I was the editor to the school newspaper, captain of the debate team and lead in several plays plus Angel Ambassadors for a little while.
What form of recognition did you receive? I was honor roll almost every quarter. I really wanted the kindness ward (that would have been my dream)
What activities outside of school did you participate in? I was part of two youth groups (Hope Community Church and St. Paul’s youth group especially Journey) and a library group where I met my first serious boyfriend.
What was your grade point average? 3.9-4.0
What was your worst test score or grade you got? I got a zero on an assignment I was accused of plagiarism (it was ridiculous).
Describe a memorable class or teacher? I liked AP Gov because Ms. Fair was very partial politically and didn’t try to influence us. She gave us interesting assignments and let us discuss current events. She also tried to focus on women in history.
What was your best subject? I was getting As in all subjects except math. Science and Spanish were also tough.
What subjects challenged you? Math was my enemy. Sometimes I’d fall asleep and then I’d have no notes. On more than one occasion I’d get sent to the nurse (school policy). And that’s why I started drinking coffee.
