My Top Ten Frequented SubReddits

I write to you after a whirlwind weekend. Friday night was a birthday party for a friend then some good old fashioned club. Saturday was a poetry slam in which I came in third place. And Sunday (the day of rest) I spent two hours making playlists for each of my WIPs (works in progress) while my boyfriend cooked me dinner. I’m staying with him for a few days and bonding with his dogs who like my company while he is at work all day. Today I’m featuring some very special communities I am part of on a website you may or may not have heard of called Reddit,

Reddit is a melting pot. As with all bus stops on the internet, there are some very pleasant people. They might give you helpful advice, like your posts or post cute pictures of their pets. But there are also some happiness leeches or just plain assholes who will try to suck out your goodwill and humanity or just make you feel bad in general. Bear in mind, both  of these two exist on the internet. So now that we established that here are five of my favorite or most helpful and most frequented subReddits.

1. Am I the Asshole?

This is classic Reddit. If subReddits were characters, this one would be the main character. One person posts a situation and then the rest of the Reddit is left to determine if the person is an asshole, not an asshole or ESH (everyone sucks here). Occasionally if you’re a terrible person your post might get reposted to Am I the Devil? I actually posted on Am I the Assshole but it got taken down because my mental illness was a factor which is not allowed as outlined in the rules. Word to the wise: Read the rules. Every subReddit has different ones.

2. bigboobproblems

I know there are probably a line of perverts that stretches all around the blog watching these girls post. But I find this place helpful- from dealing with the occasional heat rashes I get under my breasts to the best (and cheapest) ways to handle bra shopping. I found that once you are out of puberty girls don’t really talk to each other about boobs much. This place was the exception.

3. bipolar

I think this one doesn’t need elaboration but its a good place for people (diagnosed as Bipolar One and Bipolar Two) to voice concerns they are too embarrassed to bring to a doctor or talk about things only people with bipolar disorder will understand. This is not substitute for actual treatment but it probably brings comfort to alot of people.

4. NameMyCat

This one is freakin adorable. People will post pictures of cats they’ve rescued or adopted and ask Reddit to name him/her. Which can be a little dangerous. But I guess the owners aren’t obligated to follow through or anything. Otherwise that cat would have a lot of freakin names.

5. pettyrevenge

There are actually a series of revenge subReddits ranging from petty to nuclear (yes that’s another thread). It’s amazing how petty some people can be. Amazing and a little scary. Be careful who you piss off! Revenge is best served in microdoses!
