Choose Activities that Don’t Involve Food
List five things you can do that don’t involve food, particularly when you feel the need to self-soothe:
Hold a stuffed animal and lie in my bed listening to funny Youtube channels
Let Justin or my mom stroke my hair or back or massage my temples
Relax in a tub with a bath bomb and my fruit loops candle flickering
Write a poem for fun, not competition (bonus points if its a haiku, which I’ve just started writing)
Read a silly book of essays or a lighthearted love story or an Agatha Christie
List five things you could do with friends that don’t involve eating in a restaurant.
Have a poetry open mic/ slam (I know we do this already but still)
Play games (like worst movies, Midnight Outburst, or Werewords)
Go for a girls/ spa day (either at home or an actual spa)
Have a movie night (especially around Halloween)
Speaking of Halloween, tour a haunted house/ attraction
Do Activities You Love
List five activities you loved growing up:
Playing team sports
Inventing stories
Reading to Mom
Playing with dolls (mostly American Girl dolls)
Playing school
Rearranging my dollhouse
Giving fake tours of the house
List five ways you can do something similar again:
Make buttons (Okay I’m bursting with excitement about this. For my birthday my parents are getting me a button machine. I’m so excited. Think about all the amazing things I can make to wear)
Write poems, blog posts, book reviews, essays
Knit new stuffies
Read American Girl/ Winnie the Pooh books when I get stressed
Make a collage
Inventing stories
Reading to Mom
Today I went thrifting with a close friend of mine. I got five outfits including a red dress for my birthday party that makes me feel sexy. Most of the clothing is tight and it’s just one more thing that reinforces what I already know. I need to lose some weight. Now’s the time.
