History has rarely seen a figure like Donald J. Trump. He’s a former real estate mogul and TV celebrity. From Trump tower in NYC to his home, Mara-a-lago, in Palm Beach Trump is an American icon. The future President is popular among many Americans initially but when he announces he plans to run as a Republican in 2016 he makes many enemies. Unfortunately, his presidency is also very divisive for the American people.

  1. In 2016, Trump runs under the acronym MAGA- “make America great again”. He promises to “drain the swamp”, that is to get rid of the many illegal immigrants that crossed an unprotected border during Obama’s terms. And when he is elected he does just that.

  2. Donald Trump is the only President besides Reagan to be divorced. He is on his third wife, married to Melania Trump.

  3. In foreign policy, Trump kept Putin at bay and eliminated the terrorist group Isis, responsible for terrorist attacks all over the world.

  4. January 6th remains infamous all over the country as a Trump rally turned into an insurrection. Trump supporters stormed the capital although there are differing accounts as to what happened. A police officer fired into the crowd, killing a woman  named Ashli Babitt who posed no particular threat. Her family reached a wrongful death settlement. If you want the full story, it’s in a book on my therapist’s shelf.

  5. When Trump won in 2016, many people suspected Russian collusion and that he had worked with Russia to get elected. The 2016 election fraud has almost certainly been proven false by now.

  6. In 2016, Trump went up against Senator Hillary Clinton in the Presidential election. The country felt that neither candidate was ideal. Trump was faced with scandal after a video surfaced of Trump saying that if you are a star you can do anything to women including “grab em by the pussy”. This is obviously an appalling way of treating women, even if it is “locker room talk”. Meanwhile, Clinton had scandals of her own including Benghazi and keeping emails on a  private server, which is a security breach.

  7. Trump loses to Biden in the 2020 election which is incidentally the year the United States (and the rest of the World) face down a global pandemic. It is an unprecedented problem and though Trump handles it best he can, it is not good for his approval rating. There is some murmurings of election fraud in 2020 due to people voting illegally but nothing comes of it.

  8. Trump is impeached twice: the first for “abuse of power and obstruction of Congress”. The second time it is for “incitement of insurrection”

  9. Donald Trump, after leaving office, also faced criminal charges in New York. In fact he was indicted on 34 felony counts of “falsifying business records in the first degree” Several women also accused him of sexual misconduct.

  10. Several months ago, President Trump defeated Democrat Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. He is now our 47th President.

Most of my age bracket hates Trump with a passion, and think he’ll be the ruin of our country. That may be true. No man is the ideal President or knows what exactly to do especially as technology develops and the world evolves around us. If you feel hopeless, know that there is always something you can do to change the world around you.
