Shades of Emotions: Surprise

Not much surprises me anymore. Well, I wouldn’t go that far. Things certainly do surprise me now and then. Here are things that surprise me:

  • How many people are calling for the assasination (that would be the death) of right wing officials

  • How many people still don’t think women are as intelligent and capable as men

  • How my dear little cat Scout is still clinging to life….after 22 years

  • How obscene I look in my old T-shirts (I think I used to be a C cup in college which was big considering how thin I was. Now I am a DD but yes, I am heavier)

  • How fast my moods change on a dime

Excited: 84%. I have alot of things I’m excited for at this particular point in time. Two weeks from today is Cape Cod. I am embarking on this vacation with little to no summer clothes. My mom got me some from Kohl’s (her favorite store) but they were button down and big boobs and buttons don’t mix (they gap). I am also  excited to start my new job. I keep doubting myself but I’ve been leading the book club successfully so far. Justin says I will surprise myself with how well I do. I like the confidence. I am excited to help Justin and his friend, Bill, with their new podcast. I am excited to compete in my next slam. I’m excited to celebrate my ten years sobriety date and even just summer pleasures like playing my Switch in bed beneath my fan.

Amazed: 80% There is a lot in life that amazes me. The love a mother has for a child. The love a person can have for their country. The dedication someone has for their dream, overcoming all  sorts of physical and social obstacles. The strength people utilize to get through tough times like a cancer diagnosis or the loss of a friend or loved one. Plus the signs from God that I deem miracles (others might disagree but these are some things that truly amaze me).

Startled: 5% I wasn’t really sure what to say t o this. I’m not really startled unless someone sneaks up from behind me (which is a little dangerous because when I’m startled I tend to flail my arms).

Confused: 15% I guess I’ve just have a lot of questions  about my new job. What will my exact days and hours be? Can I pick up extra hours? What programs do they want me to run? Can I introduce my own like Mad Libs and scrapbooking and bible study (among others)? Most of all…can I do this?
