Six Things I Did This Weekend

· Raised money for suicide prevention. Yes, it was pouring. It was like someone was emptying buckets onto my head. When I got home my clothes were plastered to my body.
· Competed in a poetry slam. I usually do this once a month, the first Saturday of every month. It’s a good place to network and meet other talented poets and people I can interview. It’s really hard hitting that sweet spot and getting through to the next round but some of my closest friends always do. Sometimes I do too.
· I went to the Ren Faire! I didn’t have a costume so much as things I just pulled from my closet. Everybody dresses up for that shit. It’s insane. Seriously, who has bodices in their closet because that is freakin awesome?
· I got my hair done. Real flowers in a small pixie do. It was the only thing I spent money on besides throwing ninja stars and I felt freakin adorable amongst all the sexy princesses in their corsets.
· Worked on my upcoming book The Megalodon and Other Stories which, no isn’t about sharks. It’s a book of personal essays where each shark is a personal essay. Think the Rosemary Collection, only a little more upbeat.
· Tried to pull a sword from the stone. I wasn't able to but we can’t do everything. This is my favorite time of year before the onslaught of my OCD, as I recover from my summer mania. I love everything about it from the pumpkins to the horror movies (you’ve got to see Saw X). I cherish every weekend. Including this one.
