Small Happiness Boosters At Work

  • Jul 10

  • When I correctly remember a resident’s name. Or, conversely, when they remember mine

  • Getting morning greetings on the way to clock in. Trust me, its the best way to start the day.

  • Seeing the residents participate in morning exercise (shoulder rolls, flutter kicks, scissor kicks, rotate our wrists and our ankles)

  • Making someone laugh

  • Engaging in a meaningful conversation with a resident (preferably one that does not end with them crying)

  • A fist bump from my boss

  • Feeling like I’m a contributing member of the building’s ecosystem

  • When the kitchen staff makes me lunch

  • Hearing “thank you” for the little things I do

  • When residents engage in my activity

  • When residents tell me I’m doing a good job

  • Watching residents get excited by live entertainment

  • Unlimited coffee

  • Snacks in the office (everybody just gives us snacks and drinks)

  • Seeing my residents excel in activities I planned like scrapbooking

  • That satisfying sound when it comes to clocking in and out (using our fingerprints)

  • Working together as a team

  • Celebrating events (Knicks victory, the 4th of July)

  • Successfully parking a wheelchair in the dining room.
