Things That Are Cheering Me Up Right Now

Although I am mostly happy (especially in the mornings or when I’m with Justin), I still have extreme mood swings which means I could be sunny as hell for my therapy sessions in the morning and cranky and dour around five o’clock in the evening (also known as “sundowning” (it’s a thing some Alzheimer’s patients were known to do). As I increasingly grow more comfortable living with bipolar disorder, sundowning is less and less overpowering. But on days like today (even with something this evening to look forward to) it can hit hard. It’s like surfing waves. Some are gentle. Some try to drag you under. And you can never let them. Here are some things that are cheering me up today that I want to acknowledge and celebrate:
My dishcloth (the one I’m knitting) is such a pretty color (it’s pink/ fuschia and I’ve gotten many compliments on the wool). I’m trying a new kind of stitch called “tiny pebbles”
Tonight I have a webinar, an author talk with one of my favorite writers, Jodi Picoult.
I had the entire day to write and craft. Time might be the precious gift of all.
By the way, I started some new stomach medication. I’ve been on it for three days and yesterday I got sick. My dad had to check my pulse to make sure I was okay. My pulse was fine but I was pale and clammy and unable to walk for a little while. This isn’t the first time it’s happened so I don’t blame the medication. I just wish I knew what was wrong with me and that the medication starts working soon.
