What a week I have had. It was a little rocky but there were standout moments of summer fun, family and friendship. Oh yeah, and food.
Monday: Monday I broke my elliptical record. When I go to the gym I rotate between the bike, the treadmill and the elliptical. Out of all the machines, I find the elliptical most exerting. On Monday I broke my record of calories burned (old record: 225 new record: 245). I think maybe I pushed too hard because my workouts for the rest of the week I felt sore and slow. I didn’t go near the elliptical the rest of the week.
Tuesday: Tuesday was my favorite day this week. Me and a couple of friends got together with a variety of popcorn flavors to watch the 2003 remake of Freaky Friday (the one starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan) at a friends apartment. We offer constant commentary at the mistakes both women make when they are trapped in the wrong body. It is almost painful to watch. Then we drove to the theater and watched Freakier Friday (starring Jamie Lee Curtis as the grandma and LIndsay Lohan as the mom). The movie was just as good and even made well appreciated references to the original. The only thing I didn’t like is that we couldn’t make snarky comments because we were in the theater. After the movie we posed in front of the movie’s board in the theater. I don’t usually like photos of me but this one made me smile.
Wednesday: Wednesday was quiet. Knitting, then gym, then sorting my writing. I’m trying to print out all the promising short stories and essays so I can edit them for my next book. This has kind of spiraled into printing anything that I like. I don’t think our printer is up to the task so I might have to go to Staples to print it all. Thats what I did when I had to print out my book Story of Hope (as yet unpublished) which was about 150 pages. I had so many stories printed out already that I am trying to sort into two giant binders. I have also bought up half of Staples- printer paper with three holes, binder tabs. I’m the reason that store was invented.
Thursday: Yesterday we went upstate to watch my family perform in a band (the Wagner Project). It would have been a peaceful evening if I hadn’t messed up my knitting. Suddenly a manic rage seized me. I just wanted to scream. I’m still amazed at how suddenly and fiercely these rages take control of me. So for the next few days I’m on extra medication. The medication gives me terrible cotton mouth, dizziness and tiredness. I have such a busy weekend. I’m hoping I can get enough sleep (it’s hard when you are manic).
Friday I’m preparing for the upcoming weekend. I have two parties- one with family (my parents anniversary party), one with friends (a birthday party). I have an open mic to help out at. I don’t feel particularly manic anymore but this morning when I couldn’t find my charger the manic fury hit me again until I wasn’t even sure I could breathe. Losing things is always a catalyst for anger. I will work very hard to make sure no one gets hit with the blunt end of it this weekend.
