  • Not apologizing for having short hair

  • Being called a “dyke” and shrugging it off because I know I’m better than hateful language

  • Being open with my friends about my sexuality

  • Standing up for myself and my friends when “gay” is used in a derogatory way

  • Keeping my sexuality  from my family because it’s my business and I’m not sure how they would feel about it

  • Celebrating with my friends with rainbow flags

  • Going to pride events

  • Knowing you can be attracted to a person based on their personality and not what gender they are or aren’t

  • Feeling at home in your body, whether or not it is the body you were born in

  • Acceptance and tolerance

  • Sticking together against homophobic comments

  • Welcoming straight allies

  • Discovering more about yourself and your sexuality every day

  • Knowing it doesn’t take anything away from your heterosexual relationship to support others
