Blink Twice Review

Blink Twice comes with a trigger warning. I knew going in there would be sexual violence and that it was a key point to a very sinister movie. But I went for three reasons: 1) morbid curiosity 2) Channing Tatum and 3) to test myself. I don’t why I feel the need to test myself, to prove that I am over my trauma. Are we ever over our trauma?

Blink Twice is about two waitresses who carelessly jet off with a billionaire and his entourage to a private island. They swim, drink champagne, eat fancy food and smoke pot….like alot of pot. It is a very hedonistic lifestyle for Frida (the waitress) and her friend Jess. Except then Jess disappears. And Frida starts having glimpses of things she had forgotten.

Spoiler Alert: Every night on the island the men all chase down, tie up and rape the women who have no recollection of it come morning. There were several scenes that were really hard to watch. Hearing their screams. I felt physically sick. Because this movie was fake. But this happens all the time. So I think this movie called attention to a very big issue. But I don’t think I could watch it again.
